Owen (1yo)

As a photographer I have always found that your own children are sometimes the absolutely hardest to photograph. They just don't want to participate like everyone else's children. This definitely holds true for my own two, Katelyn and Owen. Owen's first birthday was May 2nd and I apparently briefly lost my mind the day before his birthday as I decided to take him up to Jasmine Hill Gardens for his 1 year portraits. What was I thinking trying to do this by myself without help?? Here are a few from that terribly hot, crazy morning at Jasmine Hill Gardens.

I really wanted to wait a little longer until he was standing or possibly walking. Well, at 14 months old he is still not walking and I figured I had better not wait too much longer. I had procrastinated long enough! So this time I took some much needed help and my friend Suzanne was so generous to come out to help me. She was such a trooper! Check out the load she was carrying that day! Her sweet Anna was only 5 weeks old and never made a peep! Thanks for everything Suzanne!!


Owen was all over the place that morning but I think we were able to get a few keepers. I can't get over how much he has changed in just 9 weeks since his birthday.




I think his sister Katelyn wanted a little more attention than she was getting but I still love this shot!
