It has been a while since I've pulled out the white background but when it was time for Miss Sarah to turn one and Mom wanted a cake smash mini session, I knew I couldn't resist. At her 9 month session she seemed a little distracted outdoors but inside Sarah just shined with all the focused attention. I absolutely love the images we captured of this special milestone. It continues to amaze me just how fast this year is flying by. Sweet Layla is already 9 months old and just as precious as ever! She rocked her session yet once again with those big blue eyes and beautiful smile!

On one of the last weekends of the season for Jasmine Hill Gardens, I met these lively girls for a stroll through the gardens. Mary Ellis is on the go now and she definitely kept me on my toes! :) I absolutely love these outfits from Kelly's Kids. They worked so nicely with the location.

I can't believe we are almost to the end of this incredible journey with my cousin Renee. This has been such a fun photo project! Depending on how little Davis decides to come, planned or unplanned, we may be able to squeeze in one final silhouette to finish it out. For now take a look at her latest progress. I find it very interesting how he seems to have moved up instead of dropping. Oh, I so can't wait to meet this little guy!

I also got some exciting news last week as well - I get to start ANOTHER progressive pregnancy project with my awesome photography bud, Shae, who recently found out she and her husband John are expecting their first child in January! WOOHOO!! Shae's first silhouette is coming right up!

One more birthday girl to finish up my week and I'm finally caught up blogging! I absolutely hate it when I get so far behind! This was my first time meeting Little Miss Laynie and what fun we had. She did so well despite the incredible heat and humidity on Saturday morning. She brought along her friend Bob (the dog) and he was a huge help in bringing out her sweet smile!

Hayden is ONE!! What a fun year it has been getting to watch this little princess grow. She is always full of smiles but especially when Daddy is around. Something about the bond between Daddy and daughter that just melts my heart!

Here's another one of my sweet baby plan friends Joshua. We recently met for his 9 months session but just after we got started he took a fall and landed right on a sweet gum ball scratching right below his eye. I was horrified! He took a few days to heal and came back smiling! I was so relieved! Look at those big beautiful eyes!

I just thought I was getting a workout with my recent one-year olds! When it came time for Reily's session he decided to step it up a notch! This little man has mastered his new found walking skills and was on the run. He was fast! We had so much fun playing chase in the gardens and smelling the flowers. He did freeze just a few times but then it was off again!

I love how tiny he looks here against this huge door. I have a vision to see this same image done of him again when he is a senior in high school. Wouldn't that be a cool perspective shot to go with this one?

Don't be fooled! This was only a 3 second break to catch his breath...

...then he was off again! ;)

But he did stop to smell the flowers.

Just a few days after little Sarah's baptism I got one last opportunity to meet with this precious family before the movers came to pack up their stuff. The weather was a challenge that day and I was worried we weren't going to make it. But the rain held off and the clouds gave us the most incredible light I could have asked for. Add a beautiful family to the mix and that is the recipe for one awesome session! I was loving every minute!

Lena Grace also celebrated a birthday last month! Such a petite little beauty with a smile for Daddy like no other. She showed off some of her dance skills and I have to tell you that it was the cutest thing I've seen in a while! Daddy fired up the iPod and this girl started to boogie! Definitely one of those sessions when I wished my camera had HD video!

This sweet family is already in route to their next excellent adventure in Washington, DC. Chris serves our great country in the Air Force and they were here for about a year at the Air Force Academy. We are so blessed to meet many wonderful families during their time stationed at Maxwell AFB. Before they left, their youngest, Sarah Katherine, was baptized in the city where she was born. What a special day!

I think I have missed posting a couple of sessions here with Renee but she is moving right along and almost to the end! Just a few more weeks until we get to meet little Davis Reed! I absolutely can't wait! I am beyond excited. I can't thank her enough for allowing me to be able to document this journey for their family. Check out her recent progression!

Last weekend my Mom and I along with some family friends hosted a baby shower for Renee. It was a wonderful afternoon of girl talk and smelling that sweet baby lotion. Oh how I love that smell! ;) Here are a few images from our fun time.

Such a special time in the life of a child is when they are brought before the church and dedicated to God. Unfortunately I was unable to be present for the actual event for Miss Addison but we did get together back at the church to document this special event several days later.

Check our her incredible gown and garment bag handmade especially for her by her grandmother. The detail is absolutely stunning.

I met Anna about a year ago when she spied me at my hair salon. I was reading the photographer's training manual for Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep (an organization that offers infant bereavement photography during the loss of a child at birth). I was truly oblivious to those around me that day. Later I get a message on Facebook from her making her acquaintance and we became instant friends through our love for photography. I hadn't realized at the time but I had been following the gorgeous images of DiAnna Paulk that had been taking over the past year of her daughter Addie. Addie is just a couple of months older than my son Owen. Anyhow, flash forward 18 months and I was so honored to be asked to assist in a newborn session with DiAnna of Anna and Paul's latest arrival - new twin girls, Anne Perry & Audrey Kate. They are BEAUTIFUL!

I met with Gracie and James recently for a session at Southern Homes & Gardens. I just love this location as it always offers such beautiful light and a variety of locations. It was a little windy that day but the kids were happy and we had a fantastic time.

This strapping young boy came into the world at 10 pounds 1 ounce and 21 inches! I think the college football recruiters are already making appointments to come see him! Typically newborn sessions are best in the first 14 days however due to a few extra days in the hospital and an already busy week it was a little later before I got to meet sweet Nolan. I knew Mom wanted the typical newborn stuff but I honestly didn't know what to expect. He was the absolute perfect model! He slept soundly and could have cared less that I was moving him around. This allowed me to capture such sweet images of this beautiful boy. Big Brother Kasen is so excited to have a new playmate.

I talked to his Mom recently and he is currently up to 12 pounds 10 ounces and 22 inches at just over a month old! WOW!! I can't wait to watch these two grow over the next year!

Jacelyn is ONE!!

I've photographed the first year of several clients over the years but Little Miss Jacelyn was my first member of a baby plan created just last year. I can't believe it was time for her to "graduate" already! I sure am going to miss seeing this cutie as often! From the first time we met at only 6 weeks old she has been an absolute joy! Her parents planned a wonderful party in the park. Jacelyn loved every minute!

I'm sorry I've been so absent on the blog lately! May is probably one of my craziest months of the year outside of the Fall season. With both of my kids' birthdays (and several other birthdays), end of year school activities, and beautiful weather for sessions, everything just keeps me hopping. Unfortunately the blog got neglected in my limited time to get everything done. I'm back and it's time for some catch up! Look for lots of new posts over the next several days. I'm going to spread them out a bit to keep it new everyday.

These are from a fun session with two little cuties that are growing up too fast! I've been photographing Austin since he was 6 weeks old and then little sister came along last Fall. We had an absolutely gorgeous morning and they did such a great job!

I met this sweet family at Southern Homes & Gardens recently during what turned out to be peak azalea weekend. I can't remember the time I've seen them so incredibly gorgeous. Normally right about the time the azaleas peak we have a big storm that destroys the blooms. This year we timed it perfectly. Nothing like a high energy 2 year old to keep you young! They are so much fun!

Summer Schedule Full; Now Booking for Fall

A busy Winter and Spring has brought many beautiful babies and children that have pretty much filled my available session times through the summer. To take care of my own children and make sure I can still provide the level of customer service needed, my calendar is very limited for June, July, and August. If you have already contacted me and need to finalize a date we have discussed, please do so as soon as possible. At this time I will begin booking dates for late summer sessions starting in September. The session fee is due to book your date and lock in current pricing. This will be a great time to think ahead about getting the family together for images for your Christmas cards also. Don't wait until it's too late! Weekends are very limited and those will book first. Weekday times both morning and late afternoon are also available. If you are needing to book a milestone session during the summer months feel free to contact me for recommendations.

Since a post is not complete without a picture, here's a peek at my own little fella who is turning TWO this weekend! We have big plans with lots of tractors. He is growing up so fast and if I don't watch out I'm going to miss it! Happy Birthday Owen!!

The wildflowers in the area have been absolutely gorgeous lately. Every time I spot a pretty patch I dream of my children frolicking around. Unfortunately they suffer from picture burnout so I have yet to get them to agree to the adventure. However Miss Jacelyn was up for the fun recently to commemorate her upcoming first birthday. We met for a quick mini session in this gorgeous field of yellow flowers that we found just behind her house! What a treasure in their own backyard! Sadly it was all mowed down just 3 days later.

Just 4 short months ago Olivia was this smiley little newborn featured here. Now look at the beautiful sweet baby she has become! She is getting baptized in a couple of weeks so we couldn't miss an opportunity for a portrait in her gorgeous gown made just for her by her grandmother. She is sitting in her mother's rocker from when she was a little girl. Priceless!

Saturday was also the first birthday party for Miss Hayley and Miss Hayden! It seems like just yesterday that I was at their house for this. It was a gorgeous day for a party! I got there a little early to do some birthday portraits of them and their family. The sun was awfully bright but we couldn't resist taking them down by the lake. I was so glad their Mom had their names on their dresses because they are identical!

After that it was time to PARTY! Casey Thornton made the cake and it was very yummy!

The girls weren't real sure how to act at first...

...but soon figured out it was lots of fun!

They were showered with gifts and like most kids had a great time with the tissue paper and tags the most!

I met up with this fiesty two year old last Saturday at Jasmine Hill and what fun we had! Two year old sessions are always a workout and this one was no exception. When I tried to get him to do something he didn't want to do he would say "Nah I no wanna do dat" but if it thought it might be fun it was "okay"! His personality was just precious!

His mom knitted this adorable hat and we just had to show it off. I think he liked being a model.

I even got a little "wink" before it was over with!

I couldn't decide between black and white and color on this one. I think I like them BOTH!

I had such a great time with this two beautiful girls at Jasmine Hill Gardens on Friday. The weather was perfect, the flowers were blooming, and it was definitely a "Good Friday"! Molly and Sarah were all dolled up in their Easter finest. Miss Hayden has a new skill - WALKING! When her Mom told me that she had started taking some steps recently, I started thinking of all the great standing shots we could get at her session thinking surely she wouldn't be taking off just yet. WOW! Was I wrong! She was either up and off to the races or down on the ground trying to pick up every flower petal she could find. She gave us quite the workout at only 10 months old! Webster's Dictionary defines "miracle" as "an extremely outstanding or unusual event, thing, or accomplishment". The birth story of these two precious girls is truly a miracle. Born at 27 weeks and weighing only 1 lb 12 oz and 2 lb 5 oz, Charlie and Lily are proven fighters. Hearing all they and their family have been through is absolutely amazing! What an incredible opportunity it was to get to photograph them shortly after coming home from the hospital! Currently weighing in at over 6 pounds each these girls are full of spunk and personality. I think they already have a pact between them that one would agree to fussing at any given time while the other rested. That is exactly what they did! Luckily I was able to get at least one shot of them calm at the same time.

Last Friday was such a gorgeous day that we decided to head up to Jasmine Hill Gardens to check it out. We met my wonderful friend DiAnna and her granddaughter there as well. I am so glad because honestly your own children are by far the hardest to photograph and having an extra hand there was totally priceless. They always seem to act like totally different children when someone else is around too - why is that?? :) Anyhow I was one happy Mommy to see these images develop! Thanks a million DiAnna for all your help!!

I may just have to print this next one BIG to remind me on the days when they do nothing but fight that they really do love each other!

My next trip to Jasmine Hill was a morning session to meet up with Jonah and Lindsay. Jonah is my buddy and I've photographed him since we was just over a year old. Spring has officially sprung! I am so excited as this is my absolute favorite time of year! A sure sign of Spring in this area is always the seasonal opening of Jasmine Hill Gardens and Outdoor Museum in Wetumpka. What a glorious place! This past weekend was beautiful and not only did I take my own children there for some fun and photography (more to come on that later) but I met sweet little Layla and her family there as well. Most of the children I photograph are best photographed in the morning but Layla comes alive in the afternoons. Every session with her is such a joy and she beams with great big smiles. This session was no exception producing more favorite images to treasure.

Layla brought along her cousin Ella for a few shots too. Isn't she a doll!

I had the pleasure of spending the morning with Luke and his parents yesterday and oh what fun we had! As with most of the older newborns (past 14 days) he was very aware of my presence and really didn't want to relax at first. He grunted and scrunched up his forehead anytime we messed with him. Although soon enough he couldn't resist being all warm and cozy and finally drifted off to sleep. He is such a precious little boy!

Sweet Campbell is another month older and just continues to get more adorable every day! He's getting very close to sitting on his own and has many different expressions. I love how he can go from serious and intense...

Meet Big Tal! He is I believe my oldest newborn to date and did amazingly well. Ideally newborn images are best to get within the first 14 days after birth but Tal proved that it can be done. Usually by this age they start to be much more alert and not as willing to stay asleep and let you move them around however this little guy couldn't resist all my little tricks and just snoozed away. He did grunt at me quite a bit but I'm so proud of him for being the perfect little model! He is quite the cutie!

Introducing her Royal Highness...Princess Mae Margaret! Simply beautiful and ready to rule the "W" household! Although her big brother Prince Max will definitely give her a run for the job. I had such a wonderful time visiting with this sweet family last week. As expected because she was nearing the end of that ideal 14 day time frame for newborns, she didn't want to miss out on any of the action and fought sleep at first. However after a little coaxing we were finally able to wear her out and she slept like a baby! ;) Look at those precious little lips!

Watch out girls! This little guy is going to be a heart breaker! With his gorgeous brown eyes and incredible smile, I couldn't help but smile the entire time during our session this past weekend. This little guy wins the award for "Best Newborn Hair"! I couldn't get over how much beautiful hair he has. He was such a little trooper and while he didn't particularly care for me messing with him once he got settled in to sleep, he was a perfect little model.

I tell you the weather here has just been absolutely crazy! It is 30 degrees one moment and 65 degrees the next! This past weekend was one of those incredibly gorgeous ones with sunny skies and temps in the upper 60s. What a perfect time for a family portrait session in the gardens. This was actually our third attempt due to weather and boy did we luck out this time! Check out this beautiful family I had the pleasure of spending my afternoon with. What had such a wonderful time together!

Jared and Kristen are celebrating their fifth wedding anniversary this year. Happy Anniversary and many more!!

Kristen told me she envisioned some images of her daughters interacting with each other. I looked up and saw this playing out right before my eyes. Such a special moment between two sisters.

This gorgeous little girl just turned two recently and we met out in the park for some fun in the sun yesterday. What incredible weather we are having! She was quite clingy to Mommy and most all requests resulted in NO! but I think we were able to sneak in some great shots nonetheless even if it took a little extra effort. Check out those incredible locks and big green eyes! So beautiful!

This little cutie was an absolute ray of sunshine on a cold and dreary day this weekend. We had such a wonderful time when we met for her 9 month portrait session. She left with a little "sugar high" but it was so worth it!

This will be a very busy week for me as I try to finish up several galleries, scoot over to Atlanta for a mid-week photography workshop, and help out a bit in the family florist for one of its busiest times of the year. This weekend was also full of beautiful mamas! There truly is a glow in a pregnant woman unlike no other. So far we seem to be on a "boy" trend as these two gorgeous ladies are having sons very soon.

I've also started a very cool photo project with my cousin Renee shortly after she announced her pregnancy. We are getting together every month for a quick silhouette session. It is so neat to see the small progressions each month. This month is definitely the most drastic so far.

It is hard to believe that is has been 3 months since this sweet girl was a mere newborn. Here she is all bright-eyed and beautiful! I love the little grins she would flash occasionally!

The three or four month session is a great time to do the baby parts collage before they get mobile and had rather roll away!

I had the pleasure to see little Alice Gray again this weekend for her newborn session. I couldn't get over how much she had changed in just a few short days since my hospital visit. It is almost like as soon as they get through those hospital doors the transformation process speeds up. Look at those beautiful baby rolls! Oh how I love those on babies!

Isn't Mama just beautiful? Mamas never are in enough pictures with their babies and I just loved this one. Such a sweet time.

Big Sister Mary Evelyn was not interested in any way to be apart of pictures with Alice Gray. I think the transition is hardest on her right now being only 2 1/2. Thankfully Daddy was able to coax her into the family picture. I just know these two are going to be best friends in no time!

Another beautiful little girl arrived into the world on Sunday - meet Miss Alice Gray! I have been photographing her big sister Mary Evelyn for over a year now and I can't wait to watch this little one grow up as well. I stopped by the hospital on Monday for a hospital newborn session.

Even grandmothers and uncles could help but smile when they looked at her!

...a new baby boy! I met up with this fun couple for a quick mini maternity session yesterday and besides almost getting blown away in the wind we had such a great time! They are expecting their first son in about 2 weeks or so and I can't wait to meet him. More to come from this sweet family after his arrival.

Two words sum up this fun session with little Max - HIGH ENERGY!! Saturday was originally forecasted to be a warm beautiful day before the rains were to come in later in the day...WRONG! It was cold and windy with heavy grey skies. That didn't stop Max from enjoying our session indoors and out. We had a great time running around together!

On Sunday I got the chance to meet sweet little Evelyn Paige - isn't that just the prettiest name?!? I just love it. She was so good to me and let us play until our heart's content. Oh how I love newborns!

Sweet little Sarah is the newest member of the C family and what a cutie she is! When I first arrived in their home Mom was telling me what a fabulous sleeper she has been. Uh-oh we were immediately jinxed! Despite having a full tummy, being warm and snuggly, and having quite a bit of wake time this little girl just didn't want to sleep! With a bit of persistence I was able to get some of those sweet sleepy shots but sometimes it was just between blinks!

*Session Tip: If you have a little one coming up on his/her 3 month session, waiting a couple of weeks into their 3rd month can make a huge difference in smiles. This little one was 3 months and 10 days old.

Reily's session actually took place over 2 sessions because at our initial attempt the weather turned out to be very windy and about 40 degrees! He was definitely not having any part of that! So another day was chosen with an indoor location this time and what a difference that made. You would have never known how yucky and rainy it was outside!

I apologize for all the wordless posts lately but I just had to get this blog caught up and unfortunately that was the fastest way to do it! All of my clients are so incredible that they really don't need words. However I'm finally coming up for air after numerous setbacks and computer problems so hopefully I can get back in the normal swing of things.

Last week I was so blessed to get to meet the newest member of the G Family, Miss Olivia Claire. You might recognize her beautiful parents from this maternity sessions several weeks ago. As expected little Miss Olivia is just gorgeous and so tiny and petite! She was the perfect little model that day giving me great eye contact when needed and sleeping like a champ with a few priceless dimpled smiles sprinkled in the rest of the time. Oh how I love newborns!

This next family is very near and dear to my heart! Meredith and I have been friends for over 10 years since back in our "single" days. I have been so blessed to watch her family grow over the years. Tears come to my eyes as I write this because I have found out recently that they are moving to another city. Although they won't be very far and it is wonderful opportunity for their family I know I still won't get to see them as much as I would like and that makes me very sad. Here are a few of my favorites from a recent family session together.

Will is growing into such a handsome young man. He recently turned 4 years old in August.
